Foundations Course
The Foundations level course is designed to introduce students to the intellectual, linguistic, and social practices that characterize participation in the academic life of highly selective American colleges and universities. These practices begin with close attention to meanings in written and spoken English, reflective and evidence-based thinking about how to interpret literary and non-literary texts, and multiple opportunities to engage in and express one’s own original and reasoned thinking with precision and clarity in written and spoken English. At all stages of the course students will be assisted in becoming more fluent, flexible, and sophisticated in their use of the English language for academic purposes.
